Alongside a musician we developed Chrysalis as an experimental game at the end of my Fine Arts education. It features a novel combination of painted assets and an exotic control scheme that made traversing the game world an activity of exploration and discovery.
Players navigate the 2D environment in which the game world rotates as though the character sticks to the surface with no gravitational forces. Games such as Super Mario Galaxy were particularly influential in developing the title.
Players encounter environmental challenges made more difficult by the rotational nature of the camera. Exploring is encouraged through providing puzzles that require searching and collecting various objects that unlock new areas to the environment.
